How do you know when a business idea will work?

My grandmother owns commercial property in a place called “old central city”, it’s basically a long street with a lot of antique stores. I can utilize her space @ no cost, but I’d have to remodel.

My ideas have been: pet groomer-my brother being the brains in that department, wedding planning services (which I KNOW I can cut prices of weddings in 1/2 by my tricks), pawn shop (but I’d need an alarm system installed) or one of those “ebay drop off” stores.

What is more lucrative in general? What can I do with 2k square feet?
I won’t have to borrow any $ from any bank or person.

If there was a sure – fire way to predict the success of a business, there would be a lot fewer failed businesses out there.

If you want to use her space for retail sales or a service business like shipping, then your best bet is to find something that fills a need in the community around the space. What kind of a shop might people who are out antiquing might like to find next to an antique shop?

The wedding planning business seems pretty hot right now. I don’t know how you would break into that business.

Good luck, whatever you decide. I would suggest having at least 6 months worth of money in the bank before you start. Assuming you have no income, make sure you can pay your bills for that long while you build your clientelle.
