Thinking of stopping the pill, am I safe for a while at least?

I am 26 and married.
I decided to stop the pill this month as I could not take the secondary effects anymore. I don’t want to take anything else with hormones, and I am thinking of using natural contracteptive methods instead. I read that measuring your temperature, checking your mucus, and the calendar method combined are a good way to know when is your fertile time of the month. My husband and I decided that we would use condoms during that fertile time to prevent any pregnancies, but if it happens, it won’t be that bad because we recently finished our studies and hopefully soon start working full-time.
Before I met my husband I stopped the pill as well and I didn’t have my period for about 6 months. So my question is, during that time after stopping the pill when you don’t get any period until you get your first “natural” period, can you still become pregnant? Did it happen to anyone?

You definitely CAN get pregnant just after stopping the pill, but it is also very common to NOT ovulate right away or even for several months. I just quit the pill recently and I ovulated 26 days after I took my last active pill. I was on the pill for 3.5 years.

My hubby and I are planning to use Fertility Awareness Method and condoms during my fertile times, but for now we’re using condoms all the time while I’m learning what my cycles look like.

Also, you ovulate BEFORE you get your first natural period, so just because you haven’t gotten a period yet doesn’t mean you can’t be fertile.
